The new Rockdale County judicial and administrative complex is under construction and service to citizens is top of mind. Once completed in 2026, the new judicial and administrative complex, along with a public plaza, greenspace and additional parking, will provide modern amenities and security standards, as well as a community point of pride.
The long-awaited complex is the first of many improvements that will come with the county’s new strategic plan, dubbed “Reimagine Rockdale.” Rockdale built its current courthouse during the Great Depression, before World War II. This
infrastructure, decades old, was intended for a small, rural county long before I-20 came through. Now, the county must build for the future to serve the many needs of the dynamic, populous and growing metropolitan county that Rockdale is today. With the new judicial and administrative complex, Rockdale will join many other metro Atlanta counties that have invested in replacing their aging infrastructure with modern facilities over the past 20 years.
A Visionary Space: Beyond a Traditional Government Building
The new complex is more than simply a government building. We envision it to be:
A secure, technology-enabled and accessible space for the courts and other government offices to better protect and serve court personnel and visitors.
A new public destination in Conyers including spaces for community meetings, outdoor greenspace, and an overall pedestrian-friendly area.
A place that will attract new and unique amenities and events.
In addition, this project will drive opportunities for local and diverse businesses, ensuring that the benefits of this pinnacle project from groundbreaking to completion are shared in our community. Just as the original courthouse served the county for more than 80 years, the new judicial and administrative complex will serve the people of Rockdale County for generations to come.
The completed judicial and administrative complex will give Conyers a magnetic city center to welcome residents, visitors and to host community events and gatherings. It will better serve the people of Rockdale in a pragmatic and cost-conscious way, while also creating a beautiful space worthy of the citizens it represents.
