August Construction Update & Upcoming Milestones
Throughout this year you may have noticed some changes in downtown Conyers as work progresses on our Judicial and Administrative Complex – a new place of pride for Rockdale County.
As construction continues, here’s a look at what’s coming in August:
- Administration Building: Plaza level slab prep is ongoing, with underground electrical work and steel erection in progress.
- Courthouse Building: Construction advances on plaza-level footings, walls, and the elevator pit. MEP and under-slab electrical rough-ins are underway. Steel erection begins this month.
- Area Disruptions: Starting this month, Pine Street will have single-lane, two-way traffic with barriers and caution lights, and Bank Street will be closed two ways from the Truist Bank parking entrance to Pine Street.
Building Momentum: July Highlights:
Administration Building:
- Steel erection is underway on the Southwest Corner, marking strong vertical progress.
- The plaza level slab is complete, with concrete pouring now beginning on upper levels.
- Groundwork between the Administration Building and the Courthouse is advancing.
- Storm Line A installation has been completed, enhancing the site’s infrastructure readiness.
Courthouse:
- The basement slab has been poured and is currently being finished.
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) installation is ongoing at the plaza level.
- Excavation continues for the south side wall footings.
- The elevator pit footing has been poured, and wall formwork is in progress.
- Plaza level column footings have been poured along the existing Courthouse annex.

These construction milestones are laying the foundation—literally and figuratively—for a more modern, efficient, and interconnected civic complex.
